MOTHER OF GOD SCHOOL MISSION STATEMENT
Mother of God School seeks to prepare students who, grounded in sound academics and strong faith, go forth bearing Christ to the world in their personal and professional lives. With Mary as its model, the school accomplishes this in an atmosphere of love and respect
Through academic excellence in the humanities, arts and sciences, and
In living the Good News through worship and service.
A SHORT HISTORY OF MOTHER OF GOD SCHOOL
For many years before the Mother of God School opened its doors in September 1987, parents in the Mother of God Community dreamed of a school for their children. As more couples with elementary school aged children joined the community, they began to share with one another their dream of an environment of Catholic/Christian education which would help nurture a spiritual growth while providing sound academics.
After twenty years and a proud affiliation with the Archdiocese of Washington the parents of our students have delighted in the impact of the school on their children’s lives. They witnessed the beautiful art projects encouraged by our art teachers, and took pleasure in the vocal and band concerts directed by several talented instructors. Through CYO competitions, parents watched their children gain athletic skills and grow in the ability to lose and win gracefully. They saw their children excel academically and move on well prepared for study in the best public and Catholic high schools. They also took pleasure as they saw their children blossom spiritually. As the children grew so did the school as it now hopes to reach the maximum student population of 250.
Accreditation by the Middle States Association in 1999 was the sign of the school fulfilling the dream to become the quality institution the founding families had always wanted.
Mother of God School has great pride in the students and their families and how they have distinguish themselves in the community by their service to others. They show that they are actively living the school mission statement of bearing the light of Christ into the world.
Today we are a private, Catholic, co-educational Pre-K through 8 elementary school. We provide students with sound academics and a path to strong faith as we prepare them to think, choose and love so they can succeed in their personal and professional lives.
